SAN FRANCISCO’S MENTAL HEALTH SAFETY NET

Access Institute provides low and no‑fee psychological services to those who want and need support

Healing San Francisco: One Mind at a Time

The Reality: San Francisco is a city of immense innovation and wealth, yet it faces a deepening mental health crisis. For thousands of our neighbors, the cost of living makes essential psychological care unaffordable.

When mental health goes untreated, our entire community suffers. It fuels homelessness, strains our emergency services, and deepens social inequality.

At Access, we provide high-quality, low-cost psychology services to the individuals and families who need them most. We are the safety net for those who have fallen through the cracks of the healthcare system.

By supporting our mission, you’re joining a collective effort to create real, lasting change. Together, we helped more than 700 individuals gain access to affordable care last year—supporting meaningful improvements in daily life, resilience, and hope.

Join us in continuing to build a healthier, more compassionate San Francisco—one life, one family, and one neighborhood at a time.

IN PERSON, IN SCHOOLS & AN ELDER CARE FACILITY
Supporting Mental Health in San Francisco

Our therapy office is centrally located in Hayes Valley to serve our community. Additionally, we work with children, families, and teachers in seven public elementary schools in San Francisco and with older adults at the Bayview Hunter’s Point Adult Day Health Center, meeting people where they are.

AN ENVIRONMENT TO HELP EDUCATE PROFESSIONALS
Clinical Training Programs

Our nationally recognized programs for postgraduates, doctoral interns, and psychiatric nurse practitioners offer small-group instruction from contemporary thinkers in psychoanalytic practice, along with a supportive peer community and professional supervision to support each trainee’s growth and education.

Your generosity fuels transformation. Your gift can help provide a lifeline to low-income families, at-risk youth, and marginalized individuals who otherwise have nowhere to turn—strengthening the fabric of our entire community.

Early intervention can mean crisis prevention, which stops mental health struggles from spiraling. Your donations enable us to serve those who would otherwise have no access to care.

The need in San Francisco is growing, but so is our resolve. We cannot do this work without you.

Let’s build a San Francisco where everyone has the support they need to thrive.
