Everyone Is Talking About Mental Health – We're Doing Something About It!

Everyone is taking about mental health - Access Institute is doing something about it!

For over two decades, Access Institute has been San Francisco's Mental Health Safety net, addressing the needs of the most vulnerable residents of our city. We pride ourselves on ensuring that no one is turned away and everyone who seeks our help receives the care they deserve.

That's not all - we have expanded the reach of our services. This year, Access Institute: ​

• Delivered on-site mental health care to students, families and school communities. 73% of students made significant academic and behavioral gains. 
• Provided over 13,000 sessions of free and low-fee mental health care to over 700 individuals and families, serving a diverse, low-income population ranging from 5 to 95 years old. 
• Partnered with UCSF to offer our psychiatric nurse practitioner training program, expanding affordable psychiatric care. That’s 500 new sessions a year available to those with no other place to turn.  

Our greatest strength lies in our commitment to training the providers of tomorrow. Graduates of Access Institute’s training programs are armed with the knowledge, empathy, and passion to make a lasting impact. They represent a brighter future for mental healthcare, ensuring that those in need receive the vital support they deserve for decades to come. 

How Can You Help? 
As we reflect on our accomplishments and look ahead to the opportunities that lie before us, we ask for your support. Your contribution to Access Institute's year-end campaign will enable us to: 

1. Expand Access: Ensure that no one in our community is denied the mental health care they require, regardless of their financial circumstances. A $2,500 gift provides therapy for a child and support for their family for an entire year.  
2. Grow our Training Programs: Invest in the development of future mental health professionals, equipping them to provide exceptional care and support. A $50,000 donation will underwrite the training for a doctoral intern or post-graduate fellow for a year. 
3. Invest in Preventive Care: Continue our vital work in addressing acute and ongoing needs, preventing suicide, avoiding disability, and guiding individuals toward recovery. A $5,000 gift provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and follow up care for 10 young adults for a year.
