Elder Mental Health Program

Support Through the Aging Process

We provide at-risk elders with thoughtful, respectful mental health care with an emphasis on continuity of care. We “show up” for these seniors in a way that builds trust and lets them feel open to discuss things with us that they may never have shared in their lives due to shame and stigma.

Services are provided to the general public and through our partnerships with The Bayview Hunters Point Adult Day Health Center and the Dr. George W. Davis Senior Center, where we serve clients enrolled in their programs.

We provide services to elders through these partnerships because the barriers to getting help are not just financial, but are also physical, psychological, and cultural. Increasing access to care means meeting seniors in their communities.

We support our partners by providing training to their nursing and social work staff in order to enhance their capacity to serve the needs of seniors with disabilities, severe mental illness, and dementia.

There is a tremendous stigma around the emotional needs of elders in our society. They become socially isolated and more depressed than most members of our community. They suffer both cognitive impairment and the risk of further health problems and mortality when they are ignored or their emotional needs are neglected.
We provide comprehensive senior mental health services:
  • Individual therapy
  • Milieu therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Psychological, Cognitive and Memory Assessment

We provide at risk elders care for:
  • Depression
  • Dementia
  • Anxiety
  • Medical Illness & disability
  • Psychosis
  • Loneliness
  • Trauma
  • Grief and Loss
