Staff Psychologist

Staff Psychologist (part-time position 24 - 32 hours per week)
 
Access Institute for Psychological Services is a community-based mental health care non-profit based in San Francisco that delivers comprehensive and affordable mental health care to those with the greatest need and the least access. For over 20 years, the organization has made high-quality psychological services available to individuals and families who lack adequate insurance and the financial means to afford care. Every year over 13,000 hours of services are provided to more than 700 people of all ages. Access Institute’s clinical training programs (Doctoral Psychology Internship and Post-graduate Fellowship) train the next generation of mental health professionals in contemporary psychodynamic treatment approaches that integrate socio-cultural perspectives and instill ethics of community service.
 
Access Institute provides mental health care at its Hayes Valley clinic and at community locations, including seven public elementary schools and an adult day health center in Bayview Hunter’s Point. For more information, please visit our website accessinst.org.
 
Position Overview: Access Institute seeks a passionate and motivated individual to join its team as a Staff Psychologist. The Staff Psychologist is responsible for providing individual psychotherapy to adults at Access Institute’s Hayes Valley Clinic. The clinic serves low-income, marginalized individuals and families who lack sufficient insurance or are not being adequately served by the publicly-funded system. The Staff Psychologist works in collaboration with the clinical team at Access Institute which includes psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, doctoral interns and postgraduate fellows, and attends clinical and staff meetings. In addition, the Staff Psychologist will have opportunities to teach and supervise in Access Institute’s clinical training programs and support our community programs in collaboration with the Training Director of the Fellowship Program.
 
The right candidate is a clinical psychologist with proven experience in psychodynamic psychotherapy, community-focused mental health care, and supervision. We are looking for a highly organized, strategic thinker who has solid clinical, leadership and communication skills and enjoys building relationships with individuals and groups.
 
Required qualifications:
• Commitment to Access Institute’s mission and to the cause of affordable, accessible mental health care
• Licensed in California
• One year of clinical experience post-licensing + supervision experience
• Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary team
• Excellent administrative and organizational skills
• Strong communication, relationship-building and leadership skills
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues of diversity, especially around race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, culture, language, and gender
