As many of you know, the funding for our partner, the Bayview Hunters Point ADHC, is under threat along with all Adult Day Health Care centers, the Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP), and Caregiver Resource Centers in California. Cutting funding for vulnerable seniors in the middle of a Pandemic is reprehensible! Fortunately, previous advocacy has had an impact. But we need to make one more effort to save these programs. On Monday, the Legislature sent their budget to the Governor without the drastic cuts to Adult Day Health and essential senior resources. During Monday's hearing, Legislators credited the thousands of calls, letters, and emails that were sent for changing their minds. Governor Newsom is continuing to negotiate with Legislators to reduce the budget gap caused by COVID- 19. As of today, no budget deal has been reached. The Governor has 12 days to sign or veto the budget, or it becomes law automatically. The fate of more than 40,000 seniors who rely on Adult Day Health Centers is now in the Governor's hands. Even if you have already done so, please call Governor Newsom's office again at 916-445-2841, option 6, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, and let him know: "I strongly oppose the elimination of Adult Day Health, the MSSP and further cuts to the Caregiver Resource Centers in the budget. Please accept the funding that the legislature has mandated for these programs." A person will answer the phone. Say you would like to leave a comment.
